Job Summary:

Newell Brands organizes its marketing capabilities under 6 functional areas of expertise: Brand Development,

Activation, Channel Marketing, Trade Strategy, Marketing Operations, and Consumer Insights. Throughout the

course of a career at Newell Brands, applicants will be asked to spend time within each of the 6 functions;

however, at the onset of their internship will be randomly assigned to one functional area.

Job Responsibilities:

Brand Development

• Works with the Brand Management Team developing the brand innovation and communication

strategies for a product grouping(s) within a brand to build consumer demand and market share,

grounded in deep consumer, product, and market understanding.

• Assist with developing brand strategy, pricing strategy, innovation and product portfolio management

and brand communication plans, overseen by direct managers.

Activation

• Works with the Brand Development Team developing the brand communication strategies for a product

grouping(s) within a brand to build consumer demand and market share, grounded in deep consumer,

product, and market understanding.

• Assist with new product launch, project management, product portfolio management and integrated

brand activation plans, overseen by direct managers.

Channel Marketing

• Commercialize sales and marketing programs within all channels of distribution and to identify channel-

specific business-building opportunities.

• Works cross functionally to deliver sales and profit results through commercialization of the overarching

brand/trade strategies to the customer/channel.

Trade Strategy

• Assist in the development of comprehensive strategies focused around enabling greater sell-in, sell-

through, and market share gains with analysis of syndicated data, category and industry trend

information, and internal performance metrics.

• Prepare reports that will inform Sales and Channel Marketing Teams as they pursue opportunities with

customers. This function will contribute to the development of strategic plans incorporating category

knowledge to drive profitable business results.

Marketing Operations

• Assist in building and executing high-impact integrated campaigns that will drive awareness and

engagement on owned and earned social media channels, increase trial and advocacy for our brands

while engaging with consumers and influencers online.

Consumer Insights

• Educates others on the consumer and marketplace.

• Informs marketing metrics, key brand, and quality measures to track and understands the underlying

drivers and interaction of each metric.

• Develops deep category knowledge across multiple categories and brands.

• Familiar with consumer insights techniques and develops a strong working knowledge of the target

consumer. Proven at independently reviewing internal and external research materials to develop a

holistic, proprietary understanding of the consumer.

Qualifications:

Completed Junior year in Business, Marketing or related field

• GPA of 3.0 or higher

• Internship or work experience preferred, in marketing or like field

Position Title: Financial Intern Supply Chain Finance

• Support global financial planning and analysis for the central supply chain functional areas

• Support the estimate process, month-end, and quarter-end close process, inclusive of

downloading transactional data, analyze monthly results, documenting variances and booking

any required journal entries

Responsibilities: This internship is a valuable opportunity to grow as a leader and gain Procurement

experience. In this position, interns will work within one of 5 areas of the Newell Brands Global

Procurement function; Direct Sourcing, Indirect Sourcing, Sourced Finished Goods, Logistics or the

Procurement Center of Excellence. As part of the Global Sourcing function, interns will gain experience

in a broad range of environments and activities including:

• Prepare, submit and assist with the Request for Quotes and Request for Proposal processes for a

variety of products and services.

• Help identify and analyze new and existing suppliers / categories / markets

• Develop analytical reviews, cost models and perform cost analyses of products and categories in

an effort to identify savings opportunities.

Position Title: Research & Development Intern (New Product Development)

Start/End Date: May 18 – August 7, 2020

Responsibilities:

This position will identify opportunities for development of new products and design improvements for

existing products. The role will insure the quality, cost, and on time delivery of new products to the

market. Responsibilities include working with the development team to establish product plans based

on market trends, and vendor development of new products and processes. Duties could include

competitive benchmarking, product costing, 3D product design, patent research and discovery, product

performance testing, prototyping, test method development, and preliminary cost analyses for product

application of new technologies.

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Assist in ensuring new products meet specifications (drawings, wire diagrams, performance and

quality), cost and timing objectives.

• Assist in development of product designs from design staff concepts using computer-aided

design (Creo).

• Assist evaluation and optimization of product designs for mechanical function,

manufacturability, packaging, material handling, software and hardware performance.

• Assist generation of finalized engineering product drawings with critical dimensions,

performance specifications, surface coatings, finishes and quality specifications (standards and

test methods/procedures).

• Assist development and evaluation of finite element models for flow and structural analysis.

• Assist development and evaluation of cost for new and modified product designs from

design through production launch to maximize product value and competitiveness.

• Assist in providing technical support in solving product quality problems with existing

products.

• Work on special projects as assigned such as evaluating competitive product, new

processes and technologies.

Qualifications:

• Working towards a B.S. degree in either Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,

Materials Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Software Engineering, Packaging

Engineering or Chemistry.

• 3.0 GPA or higher

• Related work or co-op/internship experience is a plus and evidence of creativity and

innovation. Engineering project experience is also a plus, such as mini-Baja, SAE, Robotics etc.

• Knowledge of materials (plastics, metal, and/or wood) processing and various manufacturing

technologies (molding, stamping, welding, cutting, etc) preferred but not required.

• CAD modeling experience, programming, statistics experiences, FEA Analysis, and working

knowledge of computer aided design systems are preferred but not required.

• Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously while taking

initiative on projects, driving them to timely completion.
