Summer 2020 Carrier Sales Internship


Coyote’s summer internship program starts with two weeks of training, which fully encompasses Coyote and the transportation industry. Once training is complete, you will be paired with a sales mentor, whom you will work alongside all summer to help develop you into a sales professional. You will be a part of Coyote’s Carrier Sales department, which helps customers move their inventory in the most cost- effective way by identifying and providing logistics solutions through inside sales. You will focus on the fast-paced brokerage aspect of our business by selling shipments to carriers and developing strong relationships with carriers through communication over the phone and email. These conversations with
the carriers include, but are not limited to, determining truck availability, negotiating rates based on market trends, and identifying and resolving issues.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities
• Learn the craft of selling while continuously growing sales skills.
• Develop strong relationships with carrier companies through cold calling.
• Perfect sales skills and techniques while learning from some of the best sellers in the industry.
• Work towards receiving a sales certificate by attending continuous development seminars at Coyote
• Enroll carriers in Coyote’s technology programs and mobile applications.
• Update Coyote's proprietary technology with carrier availability and capacity.
• Meet or exceed daily sales metrics.
• Have fun and learn a ton!

Sales Representative (entry-level)

As a Sales Representative at Coyote, you will focus on the fast-paced brokerage aspect of our business, helping customers move their inventory in the most cost-effective way by identifying and providing logistics solutions. As you start your sales career with Coyote, you will create and manage your individual portfolio of accounts through constant communication with carriers. These conversations include, but are not limited to, determining carrier availability, negotiating rates based on market trends, and identifying and resolving issues. Additional business is generated through inside sales by way
of industry referrals and prospecting while upholding Coyote’s No Excuses® commitment to service. 
As a Sales Representative, you will participate in the UPS Peak Project which gives the opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience onsite at one of UPS’s hubs for 6 weeks. In shipping, Peak Season refers to a period of high demand for products, services and shipping capacity from November to the end of December. Long before Coyote became a UPS company, we provided customized solutions to assist UPS with their Winter surge and are still actively doing so today at a much greater scale. The UPS Peak Project helps you as a Sales Representative build strong negotiation skills and internal and external
relationships.

The Sales Representative role within the Carrier Sales department is just the beginning of your career at Coyote. After completing our comprehensive training program and UPS Peak Project, you will have the opportunity to grow within brokerage or explore other opportunities within customer sales or operations.

Title: Business Development Representative

As a Business Development Representative at Coyote, you will focus on expanding Coyote’s customer base by helping customers move their inventory in the most cost-effective way possible. You will create your individual portfolio of accounts through research and prospecting while becoming consultative in providing logistics solutions based on individual customer needs. This consultative style will provide the opportunity to navigate longer sales cycles and develop account-specific growth strategies. Business is initially generated through inside sales with the opportunity to travel as needed to grow your portfolio. Accounts are maintained and grown through daily communication with customers while upholding
Coyote’s No Excuses® commitment to service.
